JAN & JOËl MARTEL (1896-1966) Art Deco Period Gouache.

thumbnail543

A very Fine Pencil & Gouache preparatory sketch depicting a female Caryatide figure with strong geometric design side panel in shades of blue/gray & black.

Perhaps the design formed part of a larger architectural project for a frieze panel, something the Martel Brothers often did, an example being the large friezes created for the Pavillion Des Renseignements et du Tourisme de L'Exposition Internationalle des Arts Decoratifs et Industriales Modernes, Paris 1925.

Signed in the bottom righthand corner. Modern white gold leaf frame.

Dimensions: Height 41.5cm, Width 32cm.
